Typically, this happens because the company's equity is not traded on an exchange that our stock data service redistributes. For subscribers to the stock data service or the full Membership Package, the stocks covered include all active equities trading on the NYSE,AMEX, NASDAQ, ARCA (NYSE Archipelago), Toronto and Toronto Venture exchanges.

In rare cases, companies with multiple issues or companies that trade on multiple exchanges may be listed under a different ticker symbol. The naming convention for ticker symbols is not standardized and the data provider or BetterInvesting must adapt as well as possible.

Some basic criteria that is used to determine which company data is included in our tools and stock data service:

Must be a publically traded company
Must trade on NYSE, NASDAQ, AMEX, ARCA, TSX, or TSX Venture exchanges
Selected US OTC companies may be included
Must be active on the exchange (not delisted)
Must be common stock for the company
Must have a ticker symbol assigned
Must have at least 1 year of revenue data as part of the official SEC filing
Closed end funds are not included
